While DASI Solutions has four offices in and around the Great Lakes Region, its headquarters is based out of Pontiac, Michigan. About half of the company’s employees, including myself, work out of this office. We are located right at the North end of the wide-track loop in walking distance of Downtown. Speaking of Downtown, there are some big plans on the horizon for the future of Pontiac and the business community in the area! DASI Solutions is excited to be right in the heart of this town and is looking forward to having a front row seat to watch the reinvention unfold. Let’s take a look!
No matter which way you look in Pontiac, Michigan, you won’t help but notice signs of economic revitalization throughout the business and real estate communities. Yes, that’s right! Pontiac is on the verge of re-emergence as a great place to live and work in the state of Michigan. The redevelopment, which is expected to take about three years, is starting to attract the support of many people including investors, millennials and business owners. These people are becoming invested in this city again, trying to create more daytime traffic, a stronger housing market and an exciting place to come for night life.
Many projects are underway; there are already many exciting things happening in this city. One of the largest projects in the works is the renovation of the 135,000 square-foot Oakland Towne Center. This is a 15-story building that will be converted into nearly 100 loft apartments and contain around 40,000 square feet of office space. Also included in this space will be retail and restaurant establishments. The Strand Theatre will also be going through a $20 million investment that will feature community space, a martini bar and Slow’s BBQ equipped to handle 100-150 diners at any given time.
The M1 Concourse, another large project underway in the city of Pontiac, is well under construction and is exciting car enthusiasts across the state! The concourse, located on the northwest corner of Woodward and South Boulevard, is taking over the former General Motors factory and being recreated into a playground for hardcore car enthusiasts that will include an on-site race track and private car condominiums for purchase. Phase 1 of the M1 Concourse is set to open this summer.
These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to plans for the rebirth of Pontiac. Many people are coming together to help make Downtown Pontiac all that it can be. As I previously stated, our company gets to watch all of the happenings that are going on in this city. We are excited to be right in the middle of all the buzz and are eager to see the opportunities turning into realities. In the near future, the city of Pontiac will once again be “turned on!”
Don’t just take our word for it, though. Next time you are driving down Woodward Avenue make sure you take a little detour and visit the rebirth of Pontiac yourself!
