With the DASI headquarters smack in the middle of the Woodward wide-track loop in Pontiac, it’s no mystery that we love to get involved with the car industry. I’m sure you’ve heard all about our Dream Cruise party we have each year? Well it’s a little cold out to party in the back lot, but lucky for us, AutoRama is just around the corner, February 26 – 28! We’ll get to hang out with the car community in a nice, heated, indoor facility!
Each year, we team up with other organizations in the community to exhibit together. This year, we will share our booth space with the asbe Foundation, Oakland University race team, Mott Community College and the College for Creative Studies.
Why do we partner with these educational groups rather than engineering firms? Well, one of the coolest parts about AutoRama is the Student Career Day before the event opens to the public! High school and college students in groups related to automotive design, engineering and manufacturing (and more!) attend a session with guest speakers and interactive exhibits. After the general session, they get a chance to preview the show floor before the public – networking with car builders and area schools, many of which have scholarship opportunities available. Seeing the excitement in the eyes of the students is a thrill; education has always been a passion here at DASI.
But even for those of us who can’t experience the Career Day events, it’s still an amazing time. To experience that amount of hot rods, custom cars and even motorcycles is really cool, even for those who aren’t big car junkies. The car culture is intoxicating and exhilarating!
So if you are looking for a way to beat the cold this February, come check out AutoRama at Cobo; it’s sure to be a great time!
