DASI LIFE

What is your role at DASI?

Help Desk Support Manager

How long have you been working at DASI?

11 years

What do you enjoy most about working at DASI?

The randomness of the DASI Help Desk support lines. Customers of all walks of life and business call in with questions. I get to be on the front line of their ideas and projects as they work through them. There really is no limit to what an engineer and the SOLIDWORKS software can create.

What would people be surprised to know is part of your role at DASI?

Before taking on a role with the Technical Support group, I was a Sales Account Manager with DASI for 2 years covering mid-Michigan.

Describe a typical “Day in the Life” for you at DASI.

Pick up the phone. Answer the question. Repeat. I spend most of my day interacting with customers, or other DASI Support technicians helping customers, to work through modeling challenges or issues that occur while using SOLIDWORKS products.

Be honest – who did you know at DASI that got you the job?

Before working for DASI Solutions, I had worked for Dassault Systemes in their DELMIA division as an intern. I worked a lot with the Training and Education group at DELMIA. Near the end of my internship, the Academic Program Manager, Roy Smolky, had approached the Co-Owner of DASI Solutions, Dave Darbyshire, on my behalf. One odd interview later, which required the viewing of Glengarry Glen Ross, I found myself bound to the DASI Family.

REAL LIFE

Before working at DASI, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had?

Life before DASI seems so long ago, but from the age of 16 I worked at a local Christmas/Landscape Tree Farm. I learned how to maintain and operate every piece of equipment from a Lawn Mower to a 65″ Tree Spade Truck. I still get to drive around the Genesee and Oakland County areas seeing trees I planted from my time at the farm.

Tell us a little about your life outside of work.

The thing I love most, after my family, is hunting. A bad day in the woods would only be possible if I was taking Tech calls in the Tree Stand. My two main adversaries are Turkeys in the spring and Deer in the fall.

Tell us about your family.

I have an awesome wife, Jennifer, who was able to expand our family with two boys that are 3 years apart. With two little ones at home, the fun of watching them learn and grow never gets old.
