Decrease Your Mouse Clicks in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic

SOLIDWORKS Electrical Tech Tip

In 2016, SOLIDWORKS came out with a great new feature in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic that you may not have noticed or used. When going through class as a student, you are taught to always use the right mouse button to access the properties on a specific item. Now, clicking on any item is even easier to access! SOLIDWORKS has added an Information pane on the right side of the screen. Don’t see it? Then in your Schematic software go to VIEW. Select the “I” button if it does not have a yellow background. This will make it viewable on your screen. This information pane can be placed anywhere on any monitor.

This information pane can give you access to most of the data that is attached to any item in your project, including the project properties as well! You should see a pane appear on the right side of your screen; notice that when you highlight an item either in the graphics area or in one of your browsers, the information is automatically populated? Want to change it?  Just press the pencil in the upper right hand corner. If you leave the pencil active, then no matter what you select, you will be able to automatically edit it without further mouse clicks!
