What is your role at DASI?
As the Simulation Solutions Manager, I work with customers and our Solution Sales team to ensure we are positioning the right design validation software tools to help customers improve design productivity. Our Simulation tools are an add-in that allows engineers to virtually test their products before they are even built. Virtual Simulation of product designs has been around a long time but many or our customers have yet to take advantage of these powerful tools. My role is to help change that.
How long have you been working at DASI?
What do you enjoy most about working for DASI?
I really enjoy the variety of customers and learning about all the ways they use SOLIDWORKS to make their companies and products successful. Much of my early career was focused on working with very large accounts where you might work with 4 or 5 different customers in a year. Here at DASI, we are working with hundreds of companies. Every day and every sales call there is often a new opportunity to learn about a company, their value, what makes them successful. The fun part is helping them to be even more successful.
Be honest – who did you know at DASI that got you the job?
I did not know anyone. They tracked me down based upon my management experience and I had worked at one or our competitors a few years back.
Before working at DASI, what was the most unusual or interesting job you had?
I had a stint in school when I studied Architecture and when the opportunity presented itself in 2004, I decided to become a custom home builder in Brighton, MI where I lived. Things were great for 4 years until the market crashed in 2008. We were a full service, design-build firm doing all the drawings and creating the blueprints based upon what a client wanted or what or we could dream-up. I really enjoyed putting it on paper and then watching the house come alive during construction. You need to get it right in the design stage because you’re living in prototype #1.
Share one random fact about you.
I am the only Ohio State Buckeye at DASI having graduated from the Engineering school there. I try to keep a low profile about it.
Tell us a little about your life outside of work.
I enjoy gardening and home improvement projects (as you can guess from my home builder experience). Much of the time, I’m not even working on MY house!
Tell us about your family
My wife, Barb, and I are fortunate to have three grown boys and three young granddaughters (and two great daughters-in-law!). You always think you will have more time for yourself as the kids get older, but as the family expands, time seems to shrink. Still, it’s a nice problem to have.
