DASI Supports the 2019 FIRST Robotics Championship

DASI was thrilled to staff the SOLIDWORKS experience at the 2019 FIRST Robotics Championship in Detroit.

Founded in 1989, FIRST (For Inspiration & Recognition of Science and Technology) is youth robotics competition league created with the hope to inspire young people’s interest & participation in science & technology, and hopefully encourage them to pursue education and careers in the STEM-related industries. For over 25 years, the program has proven successful, and is recognized around the world. The global reach of FIRST has been astounding:

  • 615,000 students make up over 72,000 teams
  • Over 3,000 official events have occurred in over 90 countries
  • The 2019 Championship Competition will consist of roughly 70,000 participants
  • More than $80 Million in scholarship opportunities have been given from nearly 200 providers

This highly anticipated week of competition brought thousands of students, families, spectators, industry leaders & sponsors to Detroit. The SOLIDWORKS experience at the Innovation Faire served as a meeting place throughout the week for students to explore SOLIDWORKS technology. DASI team members were on hand to educate visitors on the capabilities of the software suite, and engage with existing users.

As a significant number of FIRST teams take advantage of the SOLIDWORKS software sponsorship, many students are experienced SOLIDWORKS users already.

A VR headset transported kids to the FIRST competition field (modeled in SOLIDWORKS Visualize), where they could interact and explore the space virtually.
